I’ll give you a little background on what led to this error.  The PC had a hard drive failure, so I put in a new drive and  the replacement drive was an exact match to the failed one.  I restored from backup.

I then started to get the following error:

This was the only hard drive in the PC, and everything seemed to work correctly with it.  I could read and write to the drive, and even applied some of the windows updates that downloaded while I investigated this error.

I then went to the Hardware Device Manager and uninstalled the device, which required a reboot.

Same existing problem after reboot, so I put in a different hard drive.  The drive was completely different in all aspects (size, model and oem).  Still same problem.  Just to make sure, I re-installed the chipset drivers for this PC and rebooted.  Still the same.

I knew that it wasn’t drive specific because I received the same error with different drives.

After searching the internet I found the solution that worked for my problem. 

Just to cover the basics, always make backups before making changes to the registry.

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following key:
[ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BBBFC1-08002BE10318} ]

Right click on this key and select Export.  Save as ClassBackup.reg.

Delete the LowerFilters value, also delete from each sub key if value exists.

Restart the computer. Done.

As you can see in the following example, the print menu is not shown.

Hold down the Ctrl Key and click on the images to be printed.  In the following example, the images that are selected have a light blue background.  I’ve selected to top row.

The print menu will appear as soon as you start selecting images.

Press the Ctrl Key and the A Key at the same time and it will select all images in the current folder.

Click on the print menu, and the Print Pictures Box will appear.

On the right-hand side of your screen, scroll down and select the size images you wish to print.

Un-check “Fit picture to frame”.

The Paper size and Quality menu may be different depending on your printer.

I selected the Wallet size for this example.  For quicker printing, go to the Quality menu and select 300 x 300.

To complete the printing process, click the Print Button.
